John English, M.D.

CEO, Medical Director

Dr. John English is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and has been practicing medicine since 1993. Prior to becoming the Medical Director of Bethesda Health Clinic, he practiced medicine at Trinity Clinic in Tyler, Texas. John holds a M.D. degree from U.T. Southwestern Medical School. He completed his residency at John Peter Smith Hospital.

Krysti McWha

COO

Krysti McWha is the Chief Operations Officer for Bethesda Health Clinic and Hangers of Hope. After almost 20 years in public and corporate accounting, she felt called to join the non-profit realm to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. She joined Bethesda in 2011. In addition to holding a Masters of Accounting, Krysti is a proud mother of 3 adult children, and a graduate of Leadership Tyler class 27. She loves to travel and scuba dive in her free time.

Diane Thomason

Development Director

Diane Thomason is Bethesda’s Development Director, and she handles all donor relations and fundraising events. Diane served on the very first board of directors for Bethesda in 2002, and joined the organization officially in 2009. Diane studied Fine Arts at the University of Texas at Austin, and has a background in technology. She has served in leadership positions with many local organizations, including UT Tyler’s College of Business & Technology, Tyler Executive Women’s Network (TEWN), Christian Women’s Job Corps, The Women’s Fund and GetIT. Diane has one adult daughter, Sarah, and a grand dog, Cooper. In her free time she enjoys traveling, reading and taking walks

Laura Houston

Clinic Administrator

Laura Houston has been at Bethesda for five years and currently serves as Clinic Administrator and Development Assistant. In addition to managing clinic facilities, communicating and problem-solving with the staff, she provides fundraising support, database management, grant writing, event planning and clerical support for donors and the Development Director. Since receiving her degree in Business Management from Stephen F. Austin State University, Laura has held a variety of positions in customer service, church and school administrative support, retail management, and as Executive Director of a chamber of commerce in Georgia. She and her husband Bryan have been married 30+ years and have one adult son, Matthew, who lives and works in broadcasting in Baton Rouge. In her free time, Laura enjoys reading, Bible study, keeping up with current events, following several sports teams (Geaux Tigers!), decorating at home, and yard work

Chris Wilson, RN

Chris Wilson, RN

Director of Nursing

Chris Wilson is Director of Nursing and passionate about health and helping others. She has 29 years of nursing experience, with 10 being spent at a rural hospital in Southern Colorado and 15 in the missions’ field working with mobile medical teams and Community Health Evangelism in developing nations. Chris is married to her husband of 41 years, Phil, and they have 2 children and 7 grandchildren. Chris enjoys gardening, music, reading, being outdoors and spending time with family.

Olga Ohrbeck

Dental Office Manager

Following a career in restaurant management, Olga joined Bethesda in 2018 as the Dental Team Manager. In this role, Olga manages the Dental staff schedule and patient appointments. She makes sure that our Dental providers have patients to see at every appointment slot, and she works hard to fill cancelled and no-show appointments. Olga has an AA in Administrative Secretary and a BA in Hotel and Restaurant Management. In her spare time, Olga not only loves to cook, but she enjoys crafting, making floral arrangements, and especially decorating for Christmas. She has even coordinated a couple of weddings for fun

Melissa Briscoe

Melissa Briscoe

Administrative Director

Melissa absolutely loves the mission of Bethesda and is grateful everyday she can be a part of it. She has worked or supported Bethesda Health Clinic and Hangers of Hope since 2014. Melissa earned her BBA in Accounting and has worked in healthcare accounting and management since 1995. Along with her husband of 25 years Zack, they have 3 children. Two of their children serve in our United States Military (Air Force and Navy Proud) and the youngest is in college at Western Colorado University (Go Mountaineers!!). Melissa loves her community of Whitehouse and has volunteered for WISD Education Foundation and Keep Whitehouse Beautiful, along with serving on the Parks and Recreation Board and committee. Melissa and Zack are recent “empty nesters” and in their free time they enjoy hanging out at their family farm in Mt Vernon, TX or traveling and hiking the trails at State and National Parks across Texas, New Mexico and Colorado.

Broderick McGee

Broderick McGee, SHRM CP, PHR

HR Director

Broderick McGee was born and raised in Tyler and attended public schools in the Tyler Independent School District. Upon graduating from John Tyler High School (class of 88), he received his Associates Degree from Tyler Junior College, a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Le Tourneau University, and a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Columbia Southern University.

Broderick served as the founding President of the Rose City SHRM Chapter and currently serves on the board of the Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County. He is also a graduate of Leadership Tyler Core Class 27.

Broderick serves at the New Life Community Church and Liberty Baptist Church as the Minister of Music. Broderick has been married for over twenty-eight years to Tabbotha, and they have four children.

Broderick’s hobbies include fishing, playing the piano, traveling, and hanging out with his friends and family.

Diana Jones

Patient Advocate

Diana Jones builds and strengthens relationships with organizations in the community who have resources that can help our patients, and she matches patients having specific needs to those resources. Prior to accepting her current position, Diana volunteered in Admissions where she enjoyed meeting and ministering to new and returning patients. She is a member of the Bethesda Alliance, and she not only helped with the 2019 Birthday Bash, but contributed to its financial success by placing the highest bid on Brian Brandt’s cake! Diana has three grown sons and five grandsons. She loves to spend time with her grandsons! She also enjoys gardening and has a large garden at her home in Tyler to maintain.

Johana Velasco

Medical Reception Supervisor

Johana Velasco joined Bethesda in 2015. She supervises our volunteer and medical receptionists, and she interprets for our Spanish-speaking patients. In addition, Johanna pays invoices, mails patient remiders, performs data entry and orders supplies.

Chelsea Cohen

Volunteer Program Manager

Chelsea Cohen recently joined Bethesda as the Volunteer Coordinator. Following a 7-year career in the veterinary industry, Chelsea was looking for a way to not only help animals, but people of the community as well. Chelsea has an AA in Graphic Design, BA in Business Administration and MA in Strategic Leadership through LeTourneau University. She was born and raised in the Tyler area and has been married to her husband, Josh Cohen, for a little over a year. In her spare time, Chelsea enjoys playing with her dogs, Duncan and Mati, running, reading a good novel, and spending time with her nephews.

Megan Riaz

Marketing Coordinator

Megan is the Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator and joined Bethesda in March of 2018. She earned her BA and MA degrees in English literature from UT Tyler and has a background in Public Relations, Marketing and Communications. Megan is a graduate of Leadership Tyler Core Class 31 and serves on the boards for SPORTyler and Rose Capital West Little League. She has three children and enjoys running, reading, good grammar and good coffee. Megan is a member of South Tyler Rotary and enjoys giving back to her community through service projects.

Don Bristow

IT Director

Don Bristow came to Bethesda as a Database Consultant in 2013, then became IT Director in 2014.

His background includes 20 years in the software development industry, 5 years as a fulltime professional photographer, and 13 years in the website design and hosting business. In his position at Bethesda, Don uses all the skills acquired in these 38 years of prior experience.

Don received a BA in Liberal Studies (Elementary School Teacher Program) and a BA in Mathematics from Sacramento State University, Sacramento. He currently serves on the boards of the BBB of Central East Texas and Operation Go Quickly. He previously served on the boards of Greater East Texas IT Professionals, Innovation Advancing Education and Parent Services Center.

He is active in the Tyler arts community and has been a sponsor of Art Connection of East Texas for 4 years.

Don is a Navy veteran and has been married to Sandy, also a Navy veteran, for 41 years.
