The Mendoza Family
Your support provided more than medical care.

Just months after launching their food truck business, Cristian and Yesenia Mendoza faced a devastating setback when a bucket of 350-degree fryer oil spilled onto Cristian’s leg, causing severe second- and third-degree burns.

After an emergency room visit, infection began to set in, and the couple struggled to find affordable follow-up care without insurance. That’s when they were referred to Bethesda.

Because of your generosity, Cristian received the wound care, medication, supplies, and support he needed to heal. Bethesda’s team not only cared for his injuries but also equipped Yesenia to help manage his recovery at home.

Today, Cristian is well and healed and has continued working at the food truck he and his wife worked so hard to build.

“Bethesda helped us in every way—emotionally, financially, and spiritually,” Yesenia shared. “They gave us hope when we didn’t know what to do.”

Martha Sandoval
Martha’s Story
Because of your generosity, Martha’s disease is controlled.

When Martha moved to East Texas, she was living with rheumatoid arthritis — a painful chronic disease that can leave her unable to move for days without proper medication and care.

After being referred to Bethesda, Martha found more than arthritis treatment. She received whole-person care, regular checkups, specialist referrals, medication management, and support for her overall health.

Because of your generosity, Martha’s disease is controlled, her care is consistent, and she can keep living with strength and dignity. She now travels to Bethesda with family members, grateful to have found a place that cares for more than just her illness.

“I have yet to find another place that cares so much about your overall wellbeing,” Martha shared.

Your support gives patients like Martha access to the care they need before a crisis becomes their only option.

Phil
Phil’s Story
Because of you, Phil receives the care he needs to manage his health.

In 2014, after years of living with untreated diabetes and high blood pressure because he couldn’t afford regular healthcare, Phil experienced a serious medical emergency. A doctor in the ER recommended Bethesda Clinic, and that recommendation changed the course of his life.

Today, Phil receives two types of insulin and several other medications that help manage his diabetes and heart condition. If he had to pay retail prices, those medications would cost approximately $3,000 every month.

“Without Bethesda, I really don’t think I would be here,” Phil says.

Because of you, Phil receives the medications, lab work, and ongoing care he needs to manage his health. When he first came to Bethesda, his A1C was 11.4. Today, it is 5.9.

Those numbers tell an important story—but so does Phil’s quality of life. Thanks to consistent care, he is healthier, stronger, and able to continue doing the work he loves.

“You don’t realize how much stress you’re under from not being able to afford healthcare,” Phil says.

Thanks to you, Phil can focus on running his business as a local barber and enjoying life instead of worrying about how he’ll pay for medications, lab work, and doctor’s visits.
