Our Story
Bethesda Health Clinic was founded in 2003 to help hard-working, uninsured East Texans receive affordable, compassionate healthcare. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that accepts $0 in state or federal grants. Every visit, every restored smile, and every person healed is made possible solely through the generosity of donors who believe in caring for their neighbors.
In 2023, we proudly added Bethesda Pediatrics, formerly known as St. Paul Children’s Services, expanding our ability to care for the entire family. Today, Bethesda provides a true medical home for low-income, working, uninsured adults and underserved children across East Texas—ensuring families can receive consistent, comprehensive care including medical, dental, mental health, and wellness services.
Without Bethesda, many patients would be forced to rely on emergency rooms for basic healthcare or make impossible choices between feeding their families and seeing a doctor.

Bethesda is led by Dr. John English, who has served as CEO since 2004. Our team includes medical and dental professionals—both paid and volunteer—along with dedicated support staff and pediatric specialists who serve patients with exceptional compassion.
Since opening our doors, Bethesda has served more than 20,000 patients and completed over 265,000 patient visits.
