Bethesda is celebrating 15 years of successful operation. Since its inception, the clinic has served more than 11,000 patients and completed more than 200,000 patient visits.

CEO, Medical Director

Dr. John English, a native of Longview, Texas is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and has been practicing medicine since 1993. Prior to becoming the Medical Director of Bethesda Health Clinic, he practiced medicine at Trinity Clinic in Tyler, Texas. John holds a M.D. degree from U.T. Southwestern Medical School. He completed his residency at John Peter Smith Hospital. John is married to Dr. Grace English, M.D., who worked as the volunteer medical director to take Bethesda from a concept to a fully operational clinic. As medical professionals, John and Grace are committed to serve the Lord in the area of medicine. John and Grace are blessed with three children.

Krysti is the Chief Financial and Operations Officer for Bethesda Health Clinic and Hangers of Hope. After almost 20 years in public and corporate accounting, she felt called to join the non-profit realm to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. She joined Bethesda in 2011.

In addition to holding a Masters of Accounting, Krysti is a proud mother of 3 adult children, and a graduate of Leadership Tyler class 27. She loves to travel and scuba dive in her free time.

Development Director

Diane is Bethesda’s Development Director, and handles all donor relations and fundraising events. Diane served on the very first board of directors for Bethesda in 2002, and joined the organization officially in 2009. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Texas at Austin, and has a background in technology. Diane has one adult daughter, Sarah, and a grand dog, Cooper. She has served in leadership positions with many local organizations, including UT Tyler’s College of Business & Technology, Tyler Executive Women’s Network (TEWN), Christian Women’s Job Corps, The Women’s Fund and getIT. In her free time, Diane enjoys traveling, reading and taking walks.

Chris Wilson

Director of Nursing

Chris is Director of Nursing and passionate about health and helping others. She has 29 years of nursing experience, with 10 being spent at a rural hospital in Southern Colorado and 15 in the missions’ field working with mobile medical teams and Community Health Evangelism in developing nations. Chris is married to her husband of 41 years, Phil, and they have 2 children and 7 grandchildren. Chris enjoys gardening, music, reading, being outdoors and spending time with family.

Shuna Mast

Patient Advocate Coordinator

Shuna Mast is Bethesda’s social worker and patient advocate. Shuna graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Social Work from Texas College and a Masters in Social Work from Stephen F. Austin State University. Before joining Bethesda, she worked with the Smith County Rehabilitation Center and helped convicted felons acclimate back into civilian life. Shuna has two young daughters, Anorah and Andrea. She loves to read, shop and spend time with her girls. Shuna is very involved with ZETA Phi Beta Sorority and is active at her church, Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Shuna is a Leadership Tyler graduate with class 31.

Brittany joined Bethesda in March of 2018 after spending five years with a local education company, Mentoring Minds. Brittany has an interpersonal communications degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. She has two young sons, Fletcher and Silas, and raises them with her husband (and best friend of 25 years), Aaron. She is passionate about marriage ministry and women’s ministry, and she devotes her time working with these ministries at Colonial Hills Baptist Church. She serves on the board of directors for the Children’s Village and has served in a leadership role with Hearts of Beauty women’s retreat.

Bethesda Health Clinic partners with many skilled volunteers in the community to deliver healthcase services to the neighbors we serve. Volunteer opportunities may be available in an area that may be of interest to you. The purpose of the Bethesda Alliance is to support and promote the Bethesda Health Clinic of Tyler, Texas by functioning as a fundraising and volunteer service group. Yearly membership for the Alliance is only $25 a year or $250 for a lifetime membership. Mail your check (made out to Bethesda Alliance) to: Bethesda Alliance, 409 W. Ferguson St., Tyler, TX 75702. To become a member, you can also show up to a meeting!


To see more patients, Bethesda Health Clinic is open on some Saturday's fully staffed by members of a Tyler area church. If your church has doctors, dentists, nurses and administrators as members, talk to us about hosting a Saturday Clinic.


Your donations to Hangers of Hope Thrift Store support your friends and neighbors who are patients at Bethesda Health Clinic, and they also support people in developing countries.  Hangers of Hope has two donation centers, at our Superstore located at 920 WSW Loop 323, Tyler TX 75701, and at our Highland Village store located at 3826 Troup Hwy, Suite J, Tyler, TX 75701.
