Bethesda Health Clinic hosted the annual Dr. Luke Awards Ceremony & Dinner at Willow Brook Country Club on Saturday evening, February 17th.
The newest inductees into the Dr. Luke Society were Dr. Virgilio Gonzalez and Dr. Glen Graves. These gentlemen were honored because their professional and personal lives reflect the attributes of Saint Luke, who is referred to as “the Beloved Physician in the New Testament book of Acts.
They join an illustrious group of 38 previous honorees from the Smith County area who share Saint Luke’s commitment to respect all persons, his concern for the poor and his hope for God’s mercy and forgiveness for all.
Almost 300 friends, family members, past Dr. Luke recipients and Bethesda supporters celebrated the lives and careers of both Dr. Gonzalez and Dr. Graves.
Said Dr. Virgilio Gonzalez, “I have felt God’s presence in my life from a very young age. He guided me through poverty, protected me during the horrors of the Japanese occupation in World War II, and surrounded me with blessings as I immigrated to the promise of the United States of America. I felt His hand leading me to Tyler to practice Pathology and to find a home for my family in this wonderful community. I am honored to be among those faithful professionals who are members of the Doctor Luke Society.
Said Dr. Glen Graves, “My life’s goal is to glorify Jesus. Easier said than done. But I can do this through rheumatology, including my Bethesda patients. God often uses a physician to find out what the patient really needs (and it might not be a pill). I am honored and humbled to be inducted into the Doctor Luke Society.
Proceeds from this event benefit the patients of Bethesda Health Clinic and help fulfill our vision to be Christ in action, bringing healing, help and hope to those in need.
